2019 coronavirus virus officially named COVID-19
The novel coronavirus disease, which has spread from China to 24 other countries around the globe, has received its official name – COVID-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) said.
The announcement comes after the death toll of the respiratory illness passed 1,000, with more than 40,000 infected, surpassing that of the SARS outbreak in 2003.
